Report on Supply Chain Management

Introduction

Supply Chain functions are defined as critical business operations. The factors that include supply-chain operations are different types of structures, systems, some processes to plan and the things that execute the goods flow and services from suppliers to different customers. Talking about strategy, supply chain operations strategically put different companies on a path that sustains critical improvement to operations in business that includes costs of the company and their profits.

PART 1

During the last decade, different researchers adjusted their focus on SCM considering different types of issues in profit organization. The objectives that their researches include were- cost reduction, the addition of values or slashing the response of time in different parties that were involved in supply chain manufacturing. However, non-profit organizations had very few studies attempted. Considering SCM, it assists the business organizations to make sure to complete it in the vast and dynamic foreign markets (Wijetunge, 2017). Better operations, improving outsourcing, an increase in profits, quality outcomes generation, the satisfaction of customers, handling competitive pressures with ease and increasing globalization are the various reasons SCM is needed for. Supply Chain is involved in organizations and businesses of all types. For example, the service delivery organization needs some equipment and materials of stores made for use of customers for delivery services while every other organization at a level dealing with goods meets the handling, storing, task acquisition and delivery to ultimate consumers. However, these activities take place at subsequently different levels of the supply chain. The main aim of this involves customer satisfaction by “measuring, planning and managing all the links in the chain”. Also, the major important role is to analyze the “movement of inventory into the system and out of the system of an organization". Operational partners about the supply chain are the entities with which a particular organization can cooperate with. The selection of parties and establishment is done by the supply chain in terms of which the entities will operate. In conclusion, the supply chain is responsible for showcasing and outlining different activities at each level of the supplies in terms of capacity and time where the operations management is responsible for the execution of conclusions made by the supply chain. Therefore the supply chain decides the pursuits of operations management.
Commercially, Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is stated as the dispersal of services and goods throughout transnational companies and organizations to boost profits and minimize the wastes (Koberg, & Longoni, 2019). Supply chain management and global supply chain management are similar states but Global supply chain management focuses more on organizations and companies that are multi-national. Competitor orientation, management of logistics, coordination of supply-chain, strategies of customers, orientation, operations management and supply management are six main areas of concentration of Global SCM (Ellram & Murfield, 2019). The strategies of Global SCM are simply about architecture a
particular product to meet customer satisfaction and suppliers along the chain. Considering an example, a person has a garden 10 miles away from his house and every day he walks from his home to the garden to plough them and take his favourite vegetables to cook. Every day he needs to walk 10 miles, take the vegetables, walk back home, cook it and then eat it. Instead, why can' the have a garden behind his own house? Where he can easily go and plough them and take it to cook instead of doing a tiring a job every day. All these are strategically supply-chain problems where the solution comes with operating and investment costs. SCM strategies are very similar. How many suppliers and many investors an organization should have? It all relies on what the organization wants to satisfy and to satisfy the needs at minimum costs. This is the main Global SCM strategy. It's all about organizing the system according to which everything should flow efficiently and smoothly to satisfy everyone. It requires pragmatism, creativity and experience to analyze what will work in real life. Also operating a global SCM involves several risks which are divided into two main categories of demand-side risk and supply-side risk.

PART 2

The operational management and SCM environment involves different skills where communication and negotiation, organization and time management, presentation skills and interaction skills are the most important ones. Logistics Management is that part of supply chain management that implements, plans, and controls the effective reverse and forward flow to meet the requirements of customers (Kain & Verma, 2018). The management process begins with the collection of raw material until the last and ultimate stage of delivering goods to its destination is reached. Considering industry standards and needs of customers, the management facilitates planning, process strategy and implementation. It is said that "effective communication is a building block of successful organizations". Communication acts as a very vital source of information to members of the organization which promotes motivation by making it sure for the employees about the manner they must be performing the tasks and about how it should be done (Kang & Sung, 2017). It also assists in the controlling process. Communication helps managers of the organization to perform their jobs with full responsibility. To maintain the organization the presentation skills of even a particular individual matter. It is not easy to maintain an SCM environment or any operational management without its presentation. Along with the presentation, professional interaction runs parallel when it is about representing the organization's management. There are certain principles and various levels of hierarchy and rules that employees need to and must accompany in an organization. If organization management succeeds in making a good presentation but it fails to interact with the consumers professionally, then the results will be adverse which will affect the supply-chain of the management. So to run management within the SCM environment it is a must to maintain professional interaction with good communication skills showcasing good presentation skills for the management within the SCM environment.
