MGMT5050- RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PROFESSIONALISM (Assignment Solution)

In the contemporary world, the utilisation of technological tools and devices has been imperative when considering the growth of the business and the individual (Gremsl and Hödl, 2022). The following self-reflection is conducted with the help of Gibbs’s reflective model. It also highlights the ethical challenges and implementation of AI.

Analysis

Responsible business professionalism is the concept in which critical and self-reflective thinking is essential and significant in achieving success in the modern business environment (Brooks and Dunn, 2020). The rapidity of urbanisation and the importance of technology as megatrends in modern society as well as its impact on all contemporary business organisations was the focus of this week. I gained a deeper understanding of the popularisation of the technology of artificial intelligence, also known as AI, commonly. I learnt about the various reasons behind the amplified popularity of this particular technology. The lessons allowed me to deepen my knowledge with regard to this particular technology.

In addition to understanding the concept of AI in modern society and business activities, I also gained insights regarding why ethical AI is essential to ensure the success of business organisations. Ethical AI is based on the values of the protection of individual rights, privacy and non-discrimination of all the concerned parties (Eitel-Porter, 2021). However, in addition to the importance of ethical AI practices, the week also concentrated on the challenges of ethical AI for future business operations. The growing technological advancements covered concentrated on the notion that in order to gain success in the business, changing and adapting to changes is the most imperative part. Several other megatrends, such as climate change, scarcity of resources and a shift in international economic power and their impact on bringing changes to contemporary society and business operations, were also main concentration points.

Feelings

During my lectures, I felt a mixture of nervousness and excitement because of the opportunity to learn a new concept. Although my initial feeling with regard to the lesson was that of nervousness and excitement, they later shifted to confidence. I felt nervous because the concept of the continuous growth of technology overwhelmed me. Being resistant to change was the major reason behind this feeling, as the main concentration of the lesson was on change. In all business endeavours, no matter the size or capital, change is the most important factor to ensure its success (Clauss, et al. 2019). Nonetheless, I soon realised that I needed to adapt to changes if I had to succeed in all my endeavours of the future. This realisation gave me a feeling of excitement, and I strived to learn the upcoming concepts with complete clarity and openness.

The importance of the technology of AI in the modern business environment further developed this feeling of excitement within me. However, I must also acknowledge my panic while I was learning about the necessity of ethical practices of AI and their challenges. This was because of my unfamiliarity with the concepts. I felt extreme unease, especially when the challenges were being discussed. Every concept has its own set of importance as well as challenges (Brooks and Dunn, 2020). However, I forced myself to understand the different aspects of technology and the importance of ethical practices that are imperative for ensuring the success of every business. This knowledge made me feel confident gradually, and I was able to complete my lesson ultimately.

Evaluation

My overall experience during the completion of the assessment has been imperative. It can be understood that the advantageous or disadvantageous implementation of the technological tools in personal growth and challenges caused by the change can have serious implications (Baeza-Yates, 2022). Some of the megatrends concluded in the lecture that facilitates reshaping society are digital breakthrough, speedy urbanisation, limited availability of resources for the development and integration of digital devices in society and my personal development, etc.

Although the integration of technology, with special reference to AI, has been effective in my personal growth, the challenges of change have also caused obstruction for the same. It can be understood that for any individual, the constantly evolving and changing dynamics of society can have positive and negative impacts (McKay, et al. 2022). I believe that in the last 10-week assessment, I have developed various skills and talent that has helped me build and showcase effective working capabilities. One of the key facts that we learned during the entire 10-week assessment is change is inevitable, but progress is not. This implies that if the changes or modifications in the existing practices are not monitored effectively, it will severely impact the progress and ultimately lead to negative results.

Ethical AI use is critical in implementation because the grounds of the said technological tools are not neutral (Akgun and Greenhow, 2021). This implies that the decisions and results obtained from AI are not always ethical and can be based on biased, unfair and inaccurate information. Another ethical challenge associated with the implementation of AI, as discussed in the assessment, is the lack of transparency in the usage of the tools.

Analysis

It can be understood that the relevance of technological tools in growth and development can be positive or negative, depending on the understanding and implication of the associated practices of the same (Taddeo, 2019). My own knowledge about digital tools has experienced sustainable growth during the overall completion of the assessment. This indicates that the constant progress of growth and change has helped me grow positively while working on the theoretical and practical knowledge regarding technology, with special regard to AI. The implementation and ethical challenges regarding the same have also been pivotal.

Although the knowledge about digital tools, varied disruptive models and business fragmentation has been positive for my personal growth and polished my existing skills and expertise, the ethical challenges of AI brought a sense of resistance and hesitation in my work. The issues of transparency, inaccuracies and biased decisions can be regarded as the critical problems associated with the application of the mentioned modernised digital devices (Lehner, et al. 2022). During the completion of my assessment, the dependency on technology and hesitation to bring mandatory changes in my work seriously impacted the effectiveness of my operations.

I think that the initial hesitation to change and incorporate technology into my work and responsibilities also affected my liability as an individual. Although I am aware of the critical challenges associated with AI, it still hinders my understanding. However, as the lectures proceeded, I was able to work on myself while polishing and integrating effective theoretical and practical information. It can be understood that for any individual to incorporate changes, the idea of understanding the criticality of the change and the impact of the same is also necessary (Borenstein and Howard, 2021).

Conclusion

It can be concluded that it is important for any individual to incorporate effective and well-monitored changes in the work and responsibility to have effective results. In my case, my initial hesitation to incorporate the changes and neglecting the critical ethical challenges of AI affected my development and future growth. Although the assessment helped me with the same, I believe I still have a long way to go. In order to establish effective change and establish me as a liable individual, I have to work on my dependency on technology, gain better knowledge about modernised digital devices and bring effective changes in my daily operations. It has been determined that even if the usage of IT tools such as AI is necessary, it is also pivotal to gain an understanding of the subject and theme with critical analysis. It was also determined that although the changes are inevitable, the progress for the same is not. This implies that for the incorporation of effective modifications, the process of change and impact must be monitored closely.
